Browns Plains Barbarians meet Body Science Triandrobol
By: Chris Mooney

02-09-2003

The Browns Plains Barbarians are an American Football team that compete in the Gridiron Qld League, the league has 7 teams in 2003 based in Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Toowoomba.

The 2003 season started poorly for the Barbarians, lack of players due to work commitments and the players that did play the first game of the season struggled with their fitness and as a result lost 21-0 to the North Brisbane Rhino’s. Week 2 and a more focused team took the field against the Ravens from East Brisbane, again low numbers and lack of stamina played a major role in the outcome of the match, however the Barbarians managed to come away with their first win for the season 8-6.

The third game of the season had the Barbarians matched up against the Toowoomba Chargers. The Chargers are a strong team, big, fast and physical. This was to be the first game that I could play in.

I spoke with Stacy Kambouris from the Body Science R&D team about supplements to help with my strength, stamina and recovery. I was already using Mass Monster for a protein supplement to assist my strength training. Stacy suggested that Triandrobol would assist my strength and stamina during training and game day and would also assist in recovery. The week leading up to the game against Toowoomba I took 2 Triandrobol before my strength training along with Mass Monster. Game day I took 2 Triandrobol 30 mins prior to kick off.

A game of Gridiron is made up of 4 15 minute quarters, however the game itself can last for nearly 2 1/2 hours so stamina and recovery are very important. The game was very physical and the Chargers where leading going into the second half. I noticed my team mates becoming tired, while I felt as though it was still the first half and still had plenty of strength and energy. The barbarians went on to win the game 30-18, I scored the final touchdown with a short powerful run through the Toowoomba defence.

I noticed that during the game I never felt tired or weak, it was also my first game for the season and my first game playing a position where I got to run with the ball, I averaged 6-8 yards per run.

My training continued during the week with no interruptions from the game(no injuries or stiffness). We had a bye on the weekend which gave the team two weeks to prepare for our next game against last seasons runner up team the Gold Coast Stingrays, another big, fast and physical team.

I approached my coach and told him about Triandrobol and the results I was getting from it and suggested we trial it on the team against the Stingrays. Before the game I explained to the team what it was and how it might improve strength, stamina and recovery and offered each player 2 capsules all but 3 players took Triandrobol.

The Barbarians beat the Stingrays 24-14 scoring 24 points in the last 7 minutes of the game. It was quite a shock to the team and all that watched the game as the Stingrays are well regarded as being a well conditioned team that can normally power home and also have a strong defensive team. Needless to say the coach was very impressed and commented that he noticed the Barbarians strength and stamina won the game over a tired looking Gold Coast, players also told me how they were a little skeptical at first but honestly felt stronger as the game went on.

The Browns Plains Barbarians players have started purchasing body Science Supplements and are looking forward to their 4th consecutive win this weekend and will be adding Triandrobol to their training programs and pre game ritual.

Chris Mooney,
Linebacker/ Fullback Barbarians.
