Great Britain's Simon Lessing powered through Boston Harbor on Sunday to win Tri Boston, an International Triathlon Union (ITU) points race sponsored by Monster - the leading global online careers property and flagship brand of TMP Worldwide Inc.
Lessing trailed only Joe Umphenour of the United States as they left the two-lap swim. After a fast transition inside the World Trade Center, the two set out on the bike course, closely chased by a large pack.
Chris Moffatt of Great Britain and BSc’s Matt Clark of Australia broke away from the pack on the bike and entered transition ahead of Umphenour and Seth Wealing of the United States.
Lessing made quick work of the leaders on the run, quickly finishing the ambiguous 10km circuit in just under 28 minutes to win the race in 1:41:41. Paul Amey, who went into the race as the defending champion, finished in second place 1:42:07, BSc’s Craig Alexander rounding out the podium in 1:42:14.
