Body Science sponsored swimmers Adam Lucas and Eamon Sullivan Sizzle in Flying Visit to NSW Open Champs
By: Stephen Thomas

20-12-2005
The Perth-based BSc sponsored duo of Eamon Sullivan and Adam Lucas made a flying visit to Sydney last weekend to get some important racing practice prior to the Commonwealth Games selection trials to be held late next month in Melbourne.

The form of Adam Lucas was very solid, comfortably winning his two pet events the 200m and 400m individual medley but it was the exciting form of West Coast team-mate Eamon Sullivan that caught the bulk of media attention. On Saturday night Sullivan left former world record-holder Michael Klim in his wake to take out the 100m freestyle in 49.74s, his first time under the 50-second barrier and slashing 0.31 of a second off his previous best. The swim lifted him to 7th fastest on the Australian all-time list. Sullivan also finished second behind butterfly specialist Adam Pine in the 50m fly in another personal best time.

On the final day the 20-year-old Sullivan took out the 50m freestyle defeating Australian record-holder and Olympic finalist Brett Hawke by a convincing 0.20 of a second, hitting the wall in 22.59s - once again the 7th fastest all-time by an Australian. Sullivan is now ranked 24th globally in 2005 for the one-lap sprint.
