Grand Rapids Michigan was the host of Round 2 of the Jeep King of the Mountain Series this past weekend. This event was in conjunction with the one on one Mini Camp Jeep festival which seen plenty of spectators for the weekend events. The weather was hot and humid and a great race course was built for the riders to put on a great show for the crowd. With $100,000 and a free 2 year lease on a Jeep Vehicle up for grabs, the racing was intense. This made for TV series will be covered on over 150 stations and will be aired "prime time" on the CBS Sports channel. For more information and air dates go to http://www.jeepsports.com/ for details. Here is how the main events unfolded during the day.
Bootes had a great start to the day with qualifying 1st in the Men's field with Prokolp in 2nd, Lopes 3rd. In the first round Bootes had 2 clean runs and easily qualified to the Semi final. The next round saw Bootes come up against long time reveal, Mike King. King went to early on the start and hit the gate which gave Bootes another clean run to the finish with the maximum advantage of 1sec. The second round saw Bootes take it easy and safe by following King down the course and be within the 1 sec time gap to advance to the final round. It was then Bootes and Prokolp in the final event. In the first run Prokolp had the faster course and beat Bootes by 0.7 of a sec. In the Second round Bootes took the lead and had a good run but was not far enough in front as Bootes only won by 0.48 of a sec. This meant that Prokolp won the overall by .22 of a sec.
Round 3 will be in Poconos, PA in 3 weeks time were the King of the Mountain World Champion will be crowned.

1st Prokolp 2nd Bootes - TeamWBR, 3rd Lopes, 4th King, 5th De Bever, 6th Powell
JKOM Overall results:
1st Prokolp - 190 2nd Lopes - 180 3rd Bootes - 170.
With double points given in the final round either of these riders can win the overall.
